Professor of Music Education at Sonoma State University.
He is former Music Coordinator for the American Department of Defense Dependents Schools in Europe.
His conducting, administrative and adjudicative duties routinely send him throughout the United States, Canada, Central and South America, United Kingdom, Continental Europe, South Africa, Iceland and Southeast Asia.
A charter member of the World Association for Symphonic Bands and Ensembles (WASBE) and British Association of Symphonic Band & Wind Ensembles (BASBWE), Dr. Stanley has a distinguished reputation for promoting international cooperation among American, European, Pan-Pacific, and South and Central American orchestras and wind bands.
He has served on the executive councils of WASBE, BASBWE, and National Band Association and remains active in American, British, and international music education organizations.
He has frequent requests to present clinics on conducting and repertoire in Europe, South America, Asia, Africa, and in his native United States. |
Dr. Stanley has been guest conductor of symphony and wind orchestras throughout Asia, South America and Europe including the Coldstream Guards Band (UK), Central Band of the Royal Air Forces (UK), Leo Weiner School of Music (Budapest), Cape Philharmonic Wind Orchestra (South Africa), Sao Paolo (Brazil) State Symphonic Band, Conservatory of Tatuí (Brazil) Wind Ensemble, CSN Wind Band (Volta Redonda, Brazil), University of Rio (Brazil) Wind Ensemble, Ecuador National Wind Band (Quito) and professional and university ensembles in Colombia, Argentina, and Costa Rica.
He is a consultant with the Yamaha Corporation providing seminars, concerts and clinics throughout Central and South America. His assessments at music festivals, including the British Boosey & Hawkes and Festival of Youth Competitions as well as the California Music Education Association have provided critical guidelines for the improvement of performance standards and selection of quality literature.
The diverse musical interests of Dr. Stanley include the preparation and performance of early European and classical Japanese music.
He has performed in the Philharmonia Chorus (London) and currently in engaged with the San Francisco Symphony Chorus.
A native of Florida, most of his professional career has been relate to the development, pedagogy, and promotion of international music education through symphony and wind orchestras. |
